Flowdock has taken traditional conversation and enhanced it. The result is a more meaningful, productive and efficient way to communicate. Every day, professionals must communicate to meet goals and complete projects. Through Flowdock, users can streamline the planning, execution and evaluation process. The application allows users to hold real time conversations, maintain a persistent history, and use the Flowdock tagging system for reference later. Users can also upload images and mock ups to provide a visual dimension to their discussion. There is little that cannot be conveyed effectively through Flowdock. Users can also review lines of chat that highlight references to them so that no question goes unanswered.
Flowdock was founded in December of 2009 in Helsinki, Finland. The Flowdock team currently consists of less than ten individuals, including CEO Mikael Roos and CTO Otto Hilska. The application was originally created to provide a better way for real time collaboration. Today, Flowdock calls itself the most advanced team messenger available. Many features have been added to allow users maximum control when referencing past chats or adding files to current chats to keep all participants in the loop.
There are numerous ways to communicate online today. Some companies stick with the free and simple instant messenger programs like ICQ and IM. While these work, they are not always effective. Other applications offer a messenger as a part of a package, which may provide the business with more than they really need. Flowdock stands out because it focuses on one aspect of business: communication and collaboration. By staying focused, Flowdock has managed to provide an excellent resource for holding discussions.
Flowdock provides users with a well designed website that features a black background with a colorful logo and blue and white images. The contrast is very appealing without taking away from the professional nature of the application. The actual chat tools are also very easy to understand. Links can be added and clicked along with full color images and activity feeds. Flowdock makes it easy to not only hold conversations, but also manage and review them using an attractive, well organized application design.
New users can create a Flowdock account by clicking on the link that reads “Sign Up” at the top right hand corner of the homepage. The user must choose one of four membership plans to continue. After clicking the corresponding button, the user is asked for a first and last name, email address and password. A company name is requested as well as a desired Flowdock URL.
No matter which Flowdock membership the user chooses, they will receive a free 30 day trial. There are four membership plans to choose from. The least expensive is the Team membership which runs just under $20 and includes up to six users, 1 GB of storage space and enhanced security. The Unit membership runs about $40 and upgrades to 15 users and 3 GBs of storage space. The Department costs about $80 and includes up to 35 users and 10 GBs of storage space. The most expensive membership option is the Division membership. This account runs about $160 a month and includes up to 80 users and 20 GBs of file storage.
Flowdock is ideal for any business or organization that needs to communicate frequently. Four membership options makes it easy for a business to choose a level that suits their needs and budget. The available tools not only let users communicate through text, but share files and images.
